76 students of Nukuloa College Ba, are currently being accomodated in their primary school and science lab after their classrooms were destroyed in a fire last night.
School General Secretary Harendra Singh told Fijivillage that the fire started after 6 yesterday and they alerted the fire station.
Three classrooms and a bulkstore which is located about 5 meters from the main building engulfed in flames when the fire crews arrived at the scene.
The timber and corrugated iron building was completely destroyed in the fire.
He also said the estimated cost of damages is more than $50,000.
Meanwhile, Ba Fire Station Officer-in-charge Waisea Mateiwai said they are treating the incident sucpiciously as the only source of ignition was electrical but in this case, Mateiwai said the light was still on.
National Fire Authority and Police are investigating to determine the cause of the fire.
Meanwhile, a Tavua family of five is now homeless after a fire this morning destroyed their four bedroom house.
NFA said investigations reveal that a boy was playing with matches and lit it which was left on the bed.
According to NFA the father was out in the farm while the mother had gone out leaving the boy with the sister at home.
