A family of three of Naveiwakau settlement in Valelevu are homeless after an early morning fire destroyed their house yesterday.

The National Fire Authority Valelevu received the fire emergency call from a neighbour and immediately responded and upon arrival the fire crew found the sitting room portion of the house on fire.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire started in one of the bedrooms and spread into the rest of the house, destroying all household contents and internal structure of the house.

The fire crew quickly established one pre-connects delivery from tank supply to extinguish the fire, with help from neighbours who used buckets of water to put out the fire.

The owner of the house, Ram Lal confirmed that the house tenants were away in the West, and there was no one at home at the time of the fire.

NFA and Police continue their investigations to determine the cause of the fire.
