Unattended cooking has left another family without a home in Nadi after fire engulfed their house yesterday.

The National Fire Authority said the house in Sabeto was vacant during the time of the incident yesterday afternoon however NFA's investigation shows the fire was a result of unattended cooking.

The Acting Chief Fire Officer, Tupou Saubulinayau said this is not the first time a house has caught fire due to unattended cooking and NFA always emphasizes the need for the person cooking to stay in the kitchen until the food is cooked.

He said unattended cooking is a growing concern and is one of the major causes of home fires in Fiji.

He said it is sad to see that people are not paying any attention to the NFA's advice.
