The Officer-In-Charge at the Levuka Fire Station Jone Tutu has urged parents to monitor their children and ensure that they do not come across any substances that could cause fires.

Jona Tutu's call comes after a 67 year old man of Levuka lost all his belongings in a fire this afternoon that completely burned down his house.

Speaking to Fijivillage, Tutu said after their investigations, it was established that the 67 year old's grandsons were playing with matches and they lit a heap of clothes which later engulfed the two bedroom house in flames.

He added that firefighters were not able to save the house as by the time they reached the house, it was half destroyed.
