The National Fire Authority has urged members of the public to take extra precaution this festive season after three people lost everything in a fire in Tavarau, Ba yesterday.

The owner of the house was believed to have been sleeping on the verandah when the fire started and initial investigations show that the fire may have started due to an electrical fault which started from one of the bedroom.

The fire fighters managed to extinguish the fire in three bedroom corrugated iron house.

There were no water hydrants in the cane farming area and the brigade had to travel 4km to the nearest hydrant to refill water.
