The National Fire Authority is calling on villagers and those staying in the rural areas to exercise caution when it comes to using outside fires for cooking.

This is after an early morning emergency call from Kalokolevu village just outside the city area of a report of a fire which according to the Officer-in-charge Semisi Tabuanivalu started from firewood embers that were not properly put out.

Kalokolevu Village Rugby players saved the family-house after they formed a line and carried water from a nearby creek to put out the fire in the outside kitchen that would have claimed the family house.

Fijivillage news received confirmation that the players managed to put the fire out on time before the firefighters arrived at the scene.
