Job losses and sub-standard work is continuing to be the direct result of the ongoing fine sand shortage in the Western Division.

Fiji Master Builders Association Vice President Terry Allen said this is the reality construction companies in the Western Division are facing as an on-going disagreement between two landowning units in the Sigatoka area continues, where their supply of fine sand is usually sourced.

Allen said as a result construction companies are finding things difficult as there is no other place in the Western Division where they can source fine sand from.

He said companies do not want to compromise their building standards by using other alternatives.
