The General Manager of the Labasa Hospital believes the major obstacle faced by many people living in and around the Labasa area in accessing proper medical help is due to financial difficulties.

Doctor Samuela Korovou said Labasa Hospital has the capability to carry out the same services as the other major hospitals, but the only downside is that people often neglect the symptoms of being sick, and leave it to the last minute to get proper medical care.

Doctor Korovou adds the various health centres in Labasa can only deal with non-serious cases so when the need arises to have some of the major cases seen in the major hospital, the cost in getting to the hospital is quite high.
