The Consumer Council of Fiji said Interim Finance Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama should have mentioned the imported items that will cost more during his Budget announcement yesterday.
Chief Executive Officer Premila Kumar said the Finance Minister failed to let taxpayers know how the increase in fiscal duty on all items under the 27% duty ban which will now be raised to 32% with immediate effect, will affect them.
Kumar said consumers should brace for the increase in items we use everyday.
The whole list of which items will be affected has not been released.
