The Land Transport Authority has this afternoon made a final decision on the taxi fare increase after a board meeting earlier today.

In a statement this afternoon, LTA Acting CEO Etuate Koroi said that the interim increase in taxi fares will see an increase in flag fall from $1.00 to $1.50 from 6am to 10pm.

The flag fall will increase from $1.50 to $2.00 between 10pm and 6am.

The LTA stresses that everything else remains the same and the Authority hopes that this would clear any doubt or confusion among members of the public and stakeholders.

However, Fiji Taxi Union General Secretary Rishi Ram said this is not the 33 percent increase earlier granted. He said taxi drivers have been ripped off once again.
