Fiji's doors are open to accommodate those affected by climate change from other neighbouring pacific island countries.
These are the words of Local Government Minister Colonel Samuela Saumatua along with delegates from Samoa, the Federated States of Micronesia and Solomon Islands at the United Nations Copenhagen Climate Change Conference, during a forum hosted by the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environmental Programme.
Saumatua said it is premature to be talking about relocating, as focus should now be on finding the solution to the problem.
Meanwhile, Solomon Islands Ambassador to the UN Collin Beck said they are disappointed at the lack of enthusiasm on the part of the industrialized countries to take any action.
The summit is designed to try and find a new binding agreement between all member states to reduce carbon emissions and replace the Kyoto protocol on Climate Change, which ensures that industrialized nations to make firm commitments to reduce emissions.
The Climate Change Conference ends on December 18th.
