Continuing an annual tradition of donating food to people of Fiji the Yadein Vision Region of Australia has once again stepped in to help the flood victims.
Director Bobby Singh Mishra said as soon as they heard about the devastating floods they all wanted to help everyone who was affected.
They have brought in 3 container loads of food and other items which they are currently distributing in Ba.
Mishra said all the items collected were possible through the generosity of Fijians living in Sydney.
Meanwhile, a total of 618 people are still taking shelter in the 16 evacuation centres which are open in the Western Division.
DISMAC officials have confirmed that seven evacuation centres are still operational in Nadi with a total of 338 people taking shelter.
In Ba six evacuation centres are still open with a total of 214 people while in Lautoka 58 people are taking shelter at the three evacuation centres.
According to DISMAC official Laisenia Naitela people are moving away from the evacuation centres slowly.
The two schools that were used as evacuation centres in Wainibuka have been closed with people moving back to their homes.
