The Telecom Fijiana 7s team has started their Oceania 7s campaign on a high after thumping Papua New Guinea 38-0 in the opening game of the tournament.
The Fijiana is aiming to go another level this year after being newly promoted to the IRB World Sevens Series.
The Iliesa Tanivula coached side won the Series qualifier in Hong Kong last month and caused the upset of the Oceania 7s last year by beating world champion New Zealand in the semifinals before losing to Australia 22-5 in the final.
It is anticipated that the women’s title will be a fight between the three teams.
The Fijiana will play against all the six participating women’s teams within a single pool, with the top two teams progressing to the final.
Meanwhile, the Vodafone Fiji 7s team will play Tahiti in their first match at this hour.
The Oceania 7s will end tomorrow.
