Our Fijiana side experienced a feeling for the first time in their lives today as they were on top of the world after winning the Asian Women’s Sevens championship.
Fiji beat China 15-0 in the final.
The win this morning means the Fiji women’s 7s team has qualified for the World Cup which will be played in Russia next year.
Coach Elenoa Kunatuba said it was not an easy assignment as there were top teams who had quality players.
The Fijiana scored three unconverted tries to Asinate Ufia Savu, Rusila Nagasau and Lavenia Tinai in the final.
Fiji thrashed Singapore 47-0 in the quarterfinals and hammered Japan 31-7 in the semifinals.
China and third playoff winner Japan will now join the Fijiana in next year’s women’s rugby world cup sevens in Russia.
