The Fijiana Sevens team is aiming to finish in the top four in the Sevens World Cup in Moscow.

Head Coach Timoci Wainiqolo said that the team is still taking its first steps on the international stage, but that is not stopping the coach and players setting their sights high.

Fijiana qualified the hard way for the World Cup, going through two very competitive qualifying paths in both Oceania and Asia.

Wainiqolo said that the experience gathered on the tough road to Moscow will be a big help to his side.

The Fijiana earlier had an open trial to prepare for this World Cup, which drew more than 100 women, including some that had never played rugby before and many athletes who had played other sports like hockey, netball, soccer, and volleyball.

The Fijiana is pooled with experienced opponents like USA, Spain and Brazil.

Meanwhile, the Fiji men’s sevens team will arrive in Moscow among the favourites and as two-time winners of the Melrose Cup.

Digicel Fiji Sevens coach Alifereti Dere has yet to reveal its final squad to the World Cup.

The Rugby Sevens World Cup will be held on the 28th to the 30th of this month where Fiji is pooled with Wales, Tonga and Uruguay.
