Former Lelean Memorial School student Joseva Nayacavou has forced his way into the 18 member Scottish team.
Nayacavou, a lance corporal in the 2 Scots Regiment, has also represented the British Army 7s team, and the Fiji born backrower is expected to bolster the Scots in Happy Valley.
His inclusion in the team does not come as a surprise as he is well known to many rugby followers in Scotland to be an exciting player with ball in hand.
Scotland is in pool C with Samoa, England and Portugal.
Meanwhile, the Hong Kong 7s starts next Friday with Fiji taking on Hong Kong at 9.06pm.
On Saturday Fiji will meet Spain at 2.06pm and their last pool match is against Canada at 10.54pm.
