It is always said that people with Fiji connections are now almost anywhere in the world.

Here is a story from our News Director Vijay Narayan who is currently in Paris, France.

“The temperature in Paris is below zero degrees and is expected to drop even further. However, this did not deter us from going and seeing one of the most iconic buildings in the world, the Eiffel Tower. While we went up the tower and were at the 200 metre level, we started taking photos of Paris from the Tower. To our surprise, we heard a big bula vinaka from a man who said he had noticed that we were speaking in the Itaukei language. He is a former Veiuto and Suva Grammar School student Anthony Wooley. Wooley was born in Lautoka and grew up at Stirling Place in Lami in the 1970s. He is in Paris with his wife Carol and their two children. Carol has links to the Fong Lee family in Ba.”

“Anthony Wooley, who is a company Account Manager in New South Wales, said he is proud to have the special connection to Fiji as he is a third generation Fijian. Wooley’s father Charles was the former Controller of Fiji Customs Authority. They also said that they continue to maintain their link with Fiji and even take their children for visits. The Wooleys said it is amazing to meet Fijians anywhere in the world and it made their day that we met them on the Stage 2 deck of the Eiffel Tower overlooking Paris.”

Stay with us as Vijay Narayan will speak to some Fijians who are currently staying in France.

He will also provide updates on the new planes that Fiji Airways is purchasing and leasing.
