A Kadavu lad does Fiji proud by being awarded the Military Cross, the third highest gallantry medal in the British Army, for his gallantry and leadership, beyond the call of duty.

During Op Talic Nine, Rifleman Jokimi Sivo was specifically awarded for his outstanding efforts and bravery during a fire fight in downtown Bazra on the Shia flats, which resulted in the safe extraction of friendly forces.

He himself was shot and even while wounded he managed to continue shooting and ensuring the safety of his comrades. When extracted he realised that the bullet had lodged itself in his body armour hear his heart, breaking two of his ribs but not penetrating his body.

Speaking to Legend FM News, Sivo thanks his family and friends for their prayers.
