The chairman of the Seaqaqa Advisory Council is calling on the government to look into the rapid decline of the number of Fijian cane farmers in their area.

Lakhan Prasad said most of the Fijian farmers are finding it hard to keep up with demand as most do not know the basic farm management practices involved.

He added as a result, there are a lot of Fijian farmers who have just given up as they are finding it hard to keep up with their Indian counterparts.

Prasad said government should offer guidance to these farmers.
