It has been revealed by Australia's HIV Ambassador that Fiji shares a number of the same HIV/AIDS risk factors as PNG.
Murray Proctor said Fiji, like PNG, has high rates of sexually transmitted infections, low rates of condom use and high rates of violence against women and labor mobility which should be a sobering reminder for Fiji.
At the launch of the Fiji Business Coalition on HIV and AIDS yesterday, Proctor said the risk factors must be highlighted in businesses, as this could easily affect labor numbers.
Also in Fiji, there are 265 reported cases of HIV/AIDS.
Asia Pacific Leadership Forum's Steven Vete said people are not getting tested because of the stigma that surrounds the disease.
