A Confidential Memorandum of Understanding covering the Fiji/Hong Kong Air Services Agreement has been signed between the governments.

A Fiji government delegation led by Director Civil Aviation Akuila Waradi successfully and officially signed off on this, on Monday this week.

The CMU comes before the signing of the ASA proper by the Civil Aviation ministers of both governments at an agreed time, date and place.

The Agreement when signed will lead to meaningful bilateral relationships between the two governments in areas of trade, tourism and increased interaction.

Also, the intention was for Air Pacific to commence air service operations between Fiji and Hong Kong in June.

However, agreement was reached at this morning's meeting to defer this to the 3rd of December to allow Air Pacific time to sort out operational requirements with its ticketing "ITECH" service provider.
