Good news as the Fiji youth rugby 7s team will take part in next year's Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing China.

This follows the withdrawal of the New Zealand team which had qualified for the games after the All Blacks 7s won the World cup in Moscow in June.

New Zealand's decision not to take up it's qualification place resulted in the slot passing to Fiji as the Men's runner up within the Oceania region.

This means that Fiji will be sending an Under team 18 team.

FRU Acting CEO Berlin Kafoa said Digicel Fiji 7s Coach Ben Ryan and Development Officer Sale Sorovaki will head the selection of the team and not the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union.

Team Fiji Chef De Mission for the 2014 Youth Games Carl Probert said young rugby players will have the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of an Olympic Games as it will be part of the Rio 2016 Games.

The Youth Olympic Games will be held in China in August next year.
