The Fiji women’s basketball team defeated New Caledonia in their first Oceania Pacific Championship match 48-21 in New Zealand earlier today.

Fiji was able to capitalize on forced errors to make the most of a fast-paced game.

Coach Laisiasa Puamau said their strong defense stood out.

Fiji’s top point scorers were Mikaela Whippy and Ada Dansey as they managed to rack up 10 points each.

Meanwhile, the Men’s team will meet New Caledonia in their first match at 6:30 tonight.
