"The boys played a very good game”.

This was the comments by the Fiji Under-20 coach Ravinesh Kumar after defeating New Caledonia 2-0 in their second match of the OFC Under-20 Championship at the ANZ Stadium.

Both teams went into the breather scoreless.

Fiji’s Samuela Nabenia opened the scoring in the third minute of the second half after he slammed in right in front of goal from Saula Waqa header.

Fiji gained confidence after the goal and applied pressure which resulted in the hosts getting a penalty in the 65th minute after Saula Waqa was brought down inside the penalty box.

Tony Tuivuna made no mistake and increased Fiji’s lead.

Final score: Fiji 2-0 New Caledonia.

Fiji’s next match is against Papua New Guinea on Tuesday at 2.30pm

In other matches today, Solomon Islands held Vanuatu to a goal-less draw while American Samoa shocked Papua New Guinea after holding them 1-1.

Fiji currently leads the points table after day two of the competition with 6 points from two matches followed by Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu who both have 4 points each after two matches.
