The Vodafone Fiji 7’s team has won the HSBC World Sevens Series title after beating rivals South Africa 19-7 during the cup quarter finals of the England 7’s.

The national side was in control of the game with their outstanding defense throughout the match.

This is Fiji's second World Sevens Series title win.

We first won in 2006.

Coach Ben Ryan said the players were emotional after achieving their long term goal of winning the series and qualifying for the Olympics.

Meanwhile Fiji lost to Australia 33-7 in the cup semi finals but managed to beat tournament host England 26-12 to finish third in the final tournament.

Fiji’s tries against England came from vice captain Isake Katonibau, captain Osea Kolinisau, Savenaca Rawaca and Josaia Wini.

The Fiji 7s team is expected to arrive in the country on Wednesday.

Fiji finished the 2014/2015 World Sevens Series with 164 points, South Africa finished in second place with 154 points, New Zealand settled in third place with 152 points while England finished with 132 points in fourth place.

Fiji, South Africa, New Zealand, England and Brazil have all qualified for the Rio Olympics next year.

Brazil have automatically qualified as they are hosting the Olympics.

The remaining teams will go through the Olympic qualifier later this year in their different regions.

Meanwhile, USA won the England 7s title after thrashing Australia 45-22 in the Cup final this morning.

USA captain and HSBC Sevens Player of the tournament Madison Hughes led his team to their first ever cup win with a strong performance against Australia.

In the other finals, Japan won the Shield final after edging France 21-19, Kenya beat Argentina 26-12 to win the Bowl final while New Zealand defeated South Africa 26-14 to win the Plate final.
