Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan is well aware how Fiji finished at the Japan 7s last year and he does not want a repeat this weekend.
The national side finished the pool play last year with an unbeaten run but they lost in the cup quarter finals to Australia 21-12 before a disappointing 21-19 loss to USA in the plate semis.
Ryan says they should think about the pool games instead of Hong Kong.
Barring any upsets Fiji is expected to meet either South Africa, Kenya or Argentina in the cup quarter finals.
Meanwhile, All Blacks 7s captain DJ Forbes has not ruled out the Vodafone Fiji 7s team from claiming the overall series title.
Fiji will play France tomorrow at 1pm in their first Japan 7s match.
They will then play USA at 4:18pm and Samoa at 8:52pm tomorrow.
