The Vodafone Fiji 7s team has thrashed Wales 40 - 17 in their first pool game of the Scotland 7s.

Fiji proved too strong for the Welsh side as they crossed over with six tries while Wales scored three.

Powerful winger Savenaca Rawaca showed his strength scoring twice while playmaker Jerry Tuwai, lanky forward Semi Kunatani, Vatemo Ravouvou and Samisoni Viriviri scored a try each.

Fiji was leading 19 - 5 at half time before opening up the game to score some well worked tries in the second half.

They will now take on Portugal at 2.48am before playing Scotland at 6.21am.

The cup quarter finals will start at 10.28pm today, the cup semifinals will be at 1.58am tomorrow while the cup final will be held at 5.20am tomorrow.
