Fiji wants to host a leg of the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) tour next year at the renowned Intercontinental Golf and Spa Resort at Natadola.

Minister for Youth and Sport Commander Viliame Naupoto made the comments while opening the Nadi Inter Primary School Golf Competition at the Novotel Golf Course in Nadi.

Naupoto said they are going to meet with the PGA next week to put the bid to host a leg of the PGA Tour which will see the top golfers playing for the very first time in Fiji.

He said golf is a very big sport around the globe and we are very proud to have the Fiji flag also flying high in the golfing world thanks to our very own former World number 1 - Vijay Singh.
