Fiji is the hub of the South Pacific and is very vulnerable to terrorism.
Interim Minister for Defense Ratu Epeli Ganilau speaking at the launching of the Police Border Control Workshop said with the high tourist turnover rate in Fiji, the Police Force is not properly equipped to patrol the country's border and therefore there is the need for new and stronger legislation.
The workshop, the first of its kind for the Police Force, sees 21 heads of Police stations around the country from as far as Rotuma taking part in a three-day meet where officials from the Ministry of Defense and Immigration will address them.
