The Fiji soccer team will take part in the Oceania Beach Soccer championships later this month.

It was confirmed in the Fiji FA Council meeting last Sunday that Fiji will pull out from the championships as district officials didn't wanted to release their players because of the forthcoming Battle of the Giants and crucial matches in the National Soccer League competition.

However, good sense prevailed when three districts Navua, Lautoka and Suva agreed to release their players to represent Fiji.

Coach Intiaz Khan said this is an important playoff as the winner will automatically qualify for the Beach Soccer World Cup that will be hosted in Dubai in November.

Fiji, Solomon’s, Vanuatu and Tahiti will play in the championship which starts on 27th of this month in Tahiti.
