Fiji to push for more dialogue
Foreign Affairs Deputy Secretary, Sila Balawa said this is among other objectives as Fiji hosts the second Engaging with the Pacific meeting this week.
Discussions will highlight the needs and measures of issues affecting the region.
With the theme ‘Strengthening Partnership Amongst Pacific SIDS’, Balawa said it is important to take on the views of all Pacific Small Islands Developing States.
He added the Economic Partnership Agreement negotiations with the EU are testimony that the Pacific has the capabilities to work together.
Regional leaders have started arriving into the country for the second Engaging with the Pacific meeting that will begin on Thursday in Nadi.
The first leader to arrive last night was the special envoy of French Polynesia, Senator Richard Tuheiava, and will be representing the Head of State of French Polynesia and French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
The Vanuatu delegation led by Prime Minister Sato Kilman will arrive tomorrow.
The meeting will be held at the Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi.
