The Digicel Fiji Sevens team will take on South Africa in the quarterfinals of the Hong Kong Sevens this afternoon after coming through their pool unbeaten.
Fiji defeated USA 38-12 in their last pool game last night after beating Portugal 45-7 earlier on in the day.
The win against Portugal has come with a price to the Fiji Sevens team with forward Setefano Cakau being ruled out for the rest of the tournament with a broken hand.
Manager Jope Tuivanuavou said they know what to expect from South Africa who they played in the final last year.
Tuivanuavou added that they will have to lift their standard to another level in a must-win situation to defend the Hong Kong Sevens title.
Fiji will take on South Africa at 4.55pm.
In the opening quarterfinal at 4.11pm, Samoa will face USA, England will play Australia at 4.33pm while New Zealand takes on Kenya in the last quarterfinal at 5.17pm this afternoon.
Looking at last night’s results, South Africa beat Kenya 21-7, England defeated Wales 26-5, Australia thumped Canada 38-12, New Zealand beat Scotland 22-5 and Samoa edge Argentina 22-14.
