The Vodafone Fiji 7s team have marched through to the semifinals of the Paris 7s after defeating Australia 17-15 in a tough quarterfinal clash.

Fiji will now meet tournament host France in the semifinals at 1.25am tomorrow.

The national side were down 15-5 at halftime but managed to come back strongly in the second half with a try from Jasa Veremalua and a 70 metres try from Samisoni Viriviri.

The first try was scored by lanky forward Leone Nakarawa.

Coach Ben Ryan said they still have rooms to improve on before the semifinals.

Meanwhile in the other quarterfinals, Argentina created an upset by defeating New Zealand 19-17, Samoa also upset South Africa 21-10 while France outclass Kenya 24-5.

The first semifinals will be between Samoa and Argentina at 1.03am.

The Cup final will be played at 4.15am tomorrow.
