The Vodafone Fiji 7s team has topped Pool A and will play Australia in the Cup quarterfinals of the Singapore 7s today.
Fiji advanced to the Cup quarterfinals after defeating England 26-12.
Fiji earlier lost to Samoa 28-14 and thrashed Portugal 38-0 in its two other matches.
Masivesi Dakuwaqa scored an impressive try against England to put Fiji in the lead while Apisai Domolailai and Jasa Veremalua scored a try each to extend their lead to 21-12 at halftime.
Kitione Taliga scored Fiji’s last try to seal their victory.
Captain Osea Kolinisau said they were lucky to beat England but the focus now is the Cup quarterfinal.
Fiji will play Australia at 3.58pm today in the first Cup quarterfinal.
South Africa will take on New Zealand at 4.20pm while Argentina will play Samoa at 4.42pm in the third Cup quarterfinal.
France will play Kenya at 5.04pm in the last Cup quarterfinal.
Looking at the results of the last round of pool matches last night, New Zealand beat USA 19-12, Australia beat Wales 31-12, Samoa defeated Portugal 28-12 while South Africa defeated Kenya 14-0.
The Cup semifinals start at 8.28pm tonight while the Cup Final kicks off at 11.38pm.
Meanwhile, Vodafone Fiji 7s team Captain Osea Kolinisau has become the first Fijian ever to play in 50 HSBC 7s tournaments.
