Fiji to gain from Look North Policy
These are the comments of Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama as he returned from a five-day visit to India.
Commodore Bainimarama said that Fiji is already enjoying world class treatment covering critical and special cases in Batra Hospital and Medical Research Centre in New Delhi.
Ten Fiji patients are there at the moment, receiving inexpensive medical treatment which they would not have been able to afford in Australia and New Zealand.
During the visit, Commodore Bainimarama had a courtesy call by the Secretary for External Affairs for the Government of India where he pursued discussions with the relevant authorities on the acquisition of a prime piece of vacant land being made available to construct a Fiji Chancery.
There was also a briefing provided by Bhrata Electronics on the electronic voter registration system.
Commodore Bainimarama said his visit was important as they further strengthen relationships which would be for the social and economic benefit for Fiji.
