The Vodafone Fiji 7's team will play Samoa in the Cup final of the 2016 Oceania 7's at the ANZ Stadium.

Fiji defeated Australia 19-7 in the second semifinal.

Fiji led 5-0 at half-time with a try from Kitione Taliga.

Some scrappy play and silly mistakes prevented Fiji from scoring more tries before going to the breather.

Australia started the second half well and scored in the first minute to take a 7-5 lead.

Things were not looking good for Fiji as Setareki Bituniyata was yellow carded for a swinging arm foul.

However, an individual effort from Joeli Lutumailagi brought Fiji into the game as he ran from midway in his own territory to score Fiji’s second try with a player down in the bin.

Fiji kept the pressure and scored another try through Kalione Nasoko.

Fiji’s Interim coach Nacanieli Cawanibuka says they will need to perform better in the final as they made silly mistakes against Australia.

Fiji’s captain Osea Kolinisau will not feature in the final as he will be leaving for London to attend the World Rugby Awards.

In the first Cup semifinal, Samoa came from behind to beat PNG 17-12.

PNG led throughout the match and could have beaten Samoa.

Some late action from the Samoans sent the match into extra-time where Samoa scored the winner.

Samoa’s coach Stephen Betham says they were lucky to get a win against a spirited PNG outfit.

The Cup final between Fiji and Samoa will be played at 7.08pm.
