Fiji will now begin its campaign to qualify for the 2010 World Cup against New Zealand and not New Caledonia as originally scheduled.

The Carlos Buzetti coached side was supposed to play New Caledonia at home on October 13th with the return match in New Caledonia four days later.

Fiji FA president Doctor Shamsud Dean Sahu Khan said Vanuatu were to have played New Zealand in the opening match but with the Port Villa ground not up to international standard, they have reached an agreement with the Oceania Football Confederation for Fiji to play against New Zealand in their first match.
