Fiji is set to become the regional telecommunications hub following the liberalization of the Southern Cross Cables.
Last week, after ten years of sole access by FINTEL, Telecom Fiji Limited became the second service provider that gained access to the Southern Cross Cable.
The Southern Cross Cable provides the fastest, most direct, and most secure international internet access bandwidth.
Attorney General and Telecommunications Minister Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum revealed that two countries have approached Fiji to use our services.
Meanwhile, Commerce Commission Chairman, Doctor Mahendra Reddy revealed that apart from the other countries negotiating to use our telecommunication services, they are looking at having more landing stations around the country with a proposal to have one in the Western Division.
