The day has come as the Flying Fijians get ready to face Japan, with the ultimate aim to win the Pacific Nations Cup for the first time.

This won’t be easy as Japan is the defending PNC champion and playing at home with the guidance of former Wallaby coach, Eddie Jones, Fiji faces a mammoth task tonight.

Fans here are now expecting a good performance from the team after the dismal performance in last year’s Rugby World Cup and Pacific Nations Cup.

The Netani Talei captained side has a lot to play for especially when there is still no sponsor for the Flying Fijians.

Coach, Inoke Male said while a lot of new players will be playing for Fiji in this year’s PNC, rugby fans must understand they are the best available players.

Fiji will play Japan at 10.10 tonight while Samoa takes on Tonga at 8:10pm.

The Flying Fijians have never won the Pacific Nations Cup since its inception in 2006.

We only won one match against Samoa in the last year’s competition.

The Junior All Blacks won the PNC title in 2006, 2007 and 2009, the NZ Maori won it in 2008, Samoa won the PNC in 2010 while Japan won last year.

Japan also beat Fiji for the first time here last year.

Meanwhile, in the other international test match tonight, Australia will host Scotland at 9:30.
