Fiji athletes have been tipped to dominate the tracks at the Pacific Mini Games in the Cook Islands.
Their aim is to win 15 gold medals from the athletics competition while 10 medals alone can be bagged by sprinters Makelesi Bulikiobo and Niko Verekauta as they have entered in 5 events.
Bulikiobo may not face competition in the women’s 100m but in the men’s 100m, the races will be quite interesting.
Verekauta will be against Banuve Tabakaucoro although they will run in separate heats but could line up in the final tomorrow.
Verekauta said he is expecting to win the 100 meters title after a long time.
Tabakaucoro said they know they will be marked men in the Blue Ribbon event.
The 100 meters heats in the women’s division will start in the next 15 minutes while the men 100 meters heats will start at 1:40pm.
Meanwhile, Team Fiji's Kolinio Qarau has won his opening event in the men's Octathlon event.
He came first in his heat and will now compete in the men's Octathlon long jump and later in the 400 meters.
