The Vodafone Fiji 7s has qualified for the quarterfinals of the Las Vegas 7s after winning their second pool match defeating Scotland 24-12.

Despite the win, the national side was penalized with two yellow cards which saw Kalione Nasoko and Joeli Lutumailagi being sent off to the bin.

Fiji’s tries came from Lutumailagi, Vatemo Ravouvou, Mesulame Kunavula and Jerry Tuwai.

They were leading 10-5 at half time.

Coach Gareth Baber believes day one has been tough but a lot has to be improved for the rest of their games.

DHL ambassador Rob Vickerman says Vatemo Ravouvou is currently leading the DHL Performance Tracker while Apisai Domolailai and Lutumailagi are also amongst the top seven players on the Performance Tracker.

Barring any upsets, Fiji is expected to meet either Canada, Wales or France in the quarter finals, we will meet England in the semifinals and South Africa or New Zealand in the Medal Final.

Looking at other results, South Africa beat Canada 26-7, France thrashed Wales 33-7, England thumped Chile 31-5, USA beat Samoa 26-5, New Zealand beat Kenya 24-7, Argentina thrashed Russia 33-0 while Fiji outclassed Japan 41-0.

Fiji plays its final pool match against Australia at 9.50am tomorrow.

The Medal quarter finals start at 4.16pm tomorrow, the semis will be held at 9.44am on Monday while the final will kick off at 1pm Monday.
