Fiji is through to the bowl semi final after they beat USA 29-12 a while ago.  

They will meet either France or Wales at 4.16pm.

The second day of the Wellington Sevens is expected to be a blockbuster with great quarterfinal matches from informed teams during Day one of the tournament.

All blacks sevens team coach Gordon Tietjens said his boys need to step up their game in order to retain their title.


England Coach Ben Ryan said a lot more is expected from his team.


Scotland Coach Stephen Gemmell said the win against Fiji gave them an added boost ahead of their first ever Cup quarters since last year.


The ever improving Kenyans prove to be one of the crowd favorites on day 1 with their flamboyance and flair as Coach Mike Friday said they won’t take things too easily.


Meanwhile, the Digicel Fiji Sevens team will take on USA in the third bowl quarter final at 12.44pm.

Digicel Fiji Sevens Coach Timoci Wainiqolo said they were over confident after the team lost in their first pool game to Scotland 14-12 and then to Australia 21-12 in their second pool match and then finding their form in their last pool match beating Portugal 24-7.

Wainiqolo said the players committed basic mistakes and were too casual at times.

For the first time in the 14-year history of the IRB Sevens Series, Fiji failed to reach the Cup quarterfinal stage.

Looking at the games played last night - New Zealand managed to sneak into the cup quarterfinals after defeating USA 17-10, New Zealand had earlier lost to England 19-14.  

South Africa beat Wales 21-0, Spain went down to England 28-5,
Australia thrashed Scotland 29-5, Argentina beat France 17-14 and Samoa defeated Canada 26-12.

The Cup quarters kicks off at 1.33pm with England taking on Scotland followed by Samoa and Argentina, Australia and New Zealand while Kenya will meet South Africa.
