The Vodafone Fiji 7s team has qualified for the Cup quarterfinals of the South Africa 7s after beating Scotland 19-12 in their last pool match earlier this morning.

Fiji scored all their points in the first half with a try to captain Osea Kolinisau and two tries to Jasa Veremalua.

Fiji led 19-7 at halftime.

Scotland scored the only points in the second half to reduce the deficit to a seven point game but Fiji managed to hold on to claim victory.

Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan rested key players with the likes of playmaker Jerry Tuwai, Savenaca Rawaca and Isake Katonibau.

Fiji is will meet Australia in the Cup quarterfinals at 11.41pm tonight.

Meanwhile, Fiji’s quest of winning the South Africa 7s title has been dealt with a major blow after Semi Kunatani was ruled out of the tournament.

Kunatani sustained a concussion in their 26-7 victory over Canada.

In their first pool match Fiji displayed a commanding performance in the second half to beat France 45-5.

The Cup quarterfinals will begin at 11.19 tonight, Cup semifinals will be held at 3.39 tomorrow morning while the Cup final will be played at 6.30am.
