The Vodafone Fiji 7s team is well on track to defend the Hong Kong 7s title after an impressive 42-7 victory over Wales in its first pool game this morning.
Despite conceding the first try, the Osea Kolinisau captained side regrouped and scored six unanswered tries to win the match.
Speedster Samisoni Viriviri scored two tries while other tries were scored by Emosi Mulevoro, Osea Kolinisau, Setefano Cakau and Joeli Lutumailagi.
Pio Tuwai continued his fine performance using his mysterious footwork to set up play for Fiji.
Coach Ben Ryan said despite the win there is still room for improvement.
In other games last night, South Africa beat France 31-7, England defeated Argentina 19-12, New Zealand beat Scotland 33-0, USA upset Samoa 26-12 and Australia defeated Spain 28-14.
Meanwhile, Fiji will take on Sri Lanka at 5.24pm today in its second pool match and then Kenya in their last pool match at 11.16pm.
The Cup quarterfinals will start 3.28pm tomorrow, Cup semis kicks off at 7.52pm and the Cup final will be at 10.25pm.
