The Vodafone Fiji 7s team made a blistering start in their campaign to defend their Dubai 7s title after defeating France 54 - 7 in their first pool match.
Captained Osea Kolinisau was in top form scoring two of Fiji’s eight tries as they ran riot dominating every aspect of the game.
Play maker Jerry Tuwai opened the scoring for Fiji with Kolinisau grabbing his double in the first half as they led 21 - 0 at halftime.
Fiji then lifted their game in the second half led by hard hitting Semi Kunatani as he combined well with Aisake Katonibau and Apisai Domolailai in retaining possession for the team.
Fiji’s other tries came from Savenaca Rawaca, Vatemo Ravouvou and Jasa Veremalua while Jone Qorovarua and Eminoni Nasilasila also scored on their debut.
Coach Ben Ryan selected his first line up against France which consisted of Apisai Domolailai, Semi Kunatani, Jasa Veremalua in the forwards with Jerry Tuwai, Osea Kolinisau, Aisake Katonibau and Savenaca Rawaca making up the backline.
The Vodafone Fiji 7s team will meet Brazil at 9.44pm in their second pool match and their last pool match is against Argentina at 1.52am tomorrow.
The Cup quarterfinals start at 8pm Saturday, the Cup semifinals are at 1.55am Sunday while the Cup final kicks off at 3.42am.
