Fiji’s other tries were scored by Mesulame Kunavula and Sevuloni Mocenacagi as they led 21‑0 at halftime.
Setareki Bituniyata was sin binned after a shoulder charge while Josua Vici was also yellow carded for a high tackle.
Isake Katonibau has already made his presence felt with his leadership as he managed the defensive line well to keep Canada away from the try line until the last minute.
The national side earlier beat Hong Kong 40‑0 and thrashed Russia 38‑7.
Fiji will meet USA at 4.30pm today in the first quarterfinal.
In the other quarters, Australia will take on South Africa, New Zealand will meet Canada while England will face Kenya.
Looking at the results of the last round of pool games, Japan upset France 21‑14, England beat South Africa 17‑12, Hong Kong beat Russia 26‑19, Wales beat Scotland 21‑19, Kenya beat Samoa 17-7 while New Zealand defeated USA 21‑14.
The medal semifinals will start at 9.10pm while the final will be played at 12.30am tomorrow.
