Students in Fiji will be able to take advantage of Australian $10 million worth of Scholarships set aside by the Australian Government for those wishing to study at the Australia Pacific Technical College.

While launching the APTC today Australian High Commissioner to Fiji James Bately revealed that his government is providing an initial allocation of over Aus$150 million over four years with the aim of equipping 3000 graduates from Fiji and the Pacific with Australian standard qualifications.

These include training in tourism and hospitality, automotive, construction, electrical and manufacturing trades and health and community services.

Bately also revealed that by July this year 120 students from Fiji would be enrolled in these courses.

He stressed that the new college aims to complement and not compete with existing technical and vocational education providers in the Pacific.
