The Vodafone Fiji soccer team has failed to secure a semifinal spot in the Oceania Nations Cup after a 3-2 defeat against Vanuatu in the final group match last night.

Samuela Kautoga and Roy Krishna scored for Fiji.

Fiji’s coach, Frank Farina admitted his side had no reason to complain about the result.

Farina said they gave a few chances away at the end but it was a great comeback.

Despite the loss, Fiji has advanced to the Stage 3 of Oceania’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification after finishing in third place in the group.

Meanwhile, New Zealand and Solomon Islands have qualified for the semi-finals.

New Zealand edged Solomon Islands 1-0 yesterday.

Two other semi-finalists will be confirmed today.
