The Fiji soccer team has received their best ever rankings, when it was released by Fifa this morning.

They have jumped seven places up to lie in 101st place although Fiji has not played in any International Games recently.

Fiji's arch rivals in the Oceania Region, New Zealand dropped 18 places to number 100 after a poor show in the Confederations Cup soccer tournament.

Brazil have regained the world number one ranking, improving four places to relegate the European champions Spain to second place after winnings the Confederations Cup title.

Australia have been officially recognised among the world's elite after their ranking soared to a 16th, by far their highest ever ranking after qualifying for successive World Cups for the first time.
