Fiji signs Air Services agreement with Turkey
Fiji will now see 2 daily passenger flights from Istanbul to either the Nausori or Nadi International Airport after a MOU was signed.
This is a historical event for the country as this marks our access to the European and Middle East markets as part of the "Look North Policy".
The MOU was signed by a Fiji delegation led by Director Civil Aviation Akuila Waradi along with Solicitor General, Christopher Pryde and the General Manager for Air Pacific, Dallas Foon.
A Government statement said this deal would be a boost for our Tourism sector as Turkey has one of the fastest growing tourism industries in the world with $88 billion raked in last year.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama along with Reserve Bank Governor Sada Reddy are currently in Istanbul for the World Bank and International Monetary Fund conference where Fiji is expected to urge the two bodies not to succumb to international pressures and resume lending to Fiji.
